The economy of the Australian Outback will always be centered on agriculture , mining , and tourism . Although advancement may set in , the demand for its wealth will always be high . Even the farthest area of the region could still become an important asset to the developed countries making it a vital area for settlement and development

The Clash Between Tourists and Aborigines

Over the years , the Aborigines of the Australian Outback have been hostile with backpackers who tour their native land without notice . In fact , given a choice , these tribal people would rather see superficial tourists who would only flock to the souvenir shop and then leave at once . This is innate in the aboriginal people of the Outback since the first wave of Europeans set foot in their land

However , since it was unlikely for the tourists to leave the Outback immediately , they take this as their opportunity to control the way tourists will visit the land . There are close to 250 ,000 tourists who flock to the land in to climb Uluru . During the height of tourism season , the adjacent hotels are jam-packed with visitors , making the Uluru the fourth most populated region in the Northern Territory

Despite the hostility from the local people of The Outback , the city dwellers do not show any sign of fear against the aborigines . In fact they are more interested with the scenes that they would see rather than the aboriginal culture of the place

Progress in Outback Australia is very much evident in the towns of Kalgoorlie , Leonora , and Roxby Downs , where there is a growth in the mining industry . The towns of Alice Springs , Tennant Creek , and Katherine have been converted into administrative and regional hubs Black coal mining has become a prominent industry in Emerald , a town located at the heart of Queensland as well as cotton , which has provided opportunities for employment
