Astronomy Week 3 DQs
Astronomy Week 3 DQs DQ1 : The Telescope was invented by Galileo . We still use them (bigger and better . Why do you think telescopes are so important to astronomy still today The field of astronomy mainly relies on the skill of observation of the involved scientist to expound and explore the secrets and knowledge in the space . As the human population lacks the ability to physically examine the space environment because of the certain limitations it has such as the lack of life support system and inability for the human technology to

address this problem . Aside from that , there are also the problems of intense radiation , travel speed , and others making space exploration very difficult for manned observation . Regarding probe and unmanned exploration , these means are often limited and experience some of the problems in space exploration . Indeed , manned observation is still considered as the best possible pursuit in the field of space exploration
To address the actual problems and hindrances the present society has regarding space exploration , the scientific community devised a mean to have the exploration conducted in the safety of the planet Earth through developing the instrument of telescope . Galileo invented the telescope and while still in this primitive state , he was already able to discover important astronomical knowledge such as the structure of the solar system and some planets belonging to this system . Others scientist using this instrument was also able to further progress the said scientific field further exploring the space beyond the solar system . Indeed , the telescope becomes the tool that enables the scientific community to overcome the certain hindrances in the field of space exploration
In the present , along the technological advancement in optical design and computer imaging , bigger and better telescopes can now be made enabling the scientific community to view the distant galaxies and the deep region of the universe . As the present society is till unable to breakthrough the problems in space exploration , observation inside the planet through the use of the highly-advanced telescope still manifests as the primary medium in space exploration
DQ2 : Discuss the different ways how the sun influences us here on earth
The solar system is designed with the sun as the center as it manifests to be the most influential and powerful element in the group . Inspite of the distance that each planet has from this astronomical figure , the sun still affects each one of them in various aspects particularly in their gravitational stability . The planet Earth in particularly , being the third figure in the system , is affected by the sun in many ways either in a positive side or negative side
The sun positively affects the planet Earth in many ways primarily as a mean contributing to the intricate and delicate life support balance in the planet . The sun is the main source of heat , light and energy of the planet Earth 's system and with these effects , life is possible in the planet with their sustainable food generation , well-adjusted global climate condition , and other conditions that contribute to the life-support system of the planet . For example , the heat from the sun is sufficient enough to warm up the water bodies facilitating in the process the water cycle which is vital to the conditions of the atmosphere , yet the effect is perfectly conditioned to also allow cold temperature and precipitation . In addition , because of the planetary position of the planet , the sun perfectly maintains the suitable distance and the orbital stability of the planet in the solar system
On the other hand , the sun also has other detrimental effects on the planet Earth similar to the other astronomical figure in the solar system . However , the suitable distance from the two makes these radiation and other detrimental effects to be insignificant and tolerable for the planet with their natural protection such as the ozone layer . As such , the sun and the planet earth 's relationship falls within the suitable environmental conditions to facilitate life-support system and sustain the continuity and development of life inside the planet
DQ3 : Life on earth depends on the sun , based on what you have read , what are some issues that could arise either in the sun or our understanding of the sun that could cast concerns on our future
As determine in the natural condition of the planet , life continuity inside the planet Earth is mainly dependent on the sun . This astronomical figure manifests as the primary source of energy , light and heat which are elements vital for the survival of life in the planet However , as determined by the advanced astronomical knowledge regarding the solar system and the sun in particular , certain concerns rise based on the relationship between the planet Earth and the sun regarding the survival of life inside the planet
As determined by advanced astronomical conditions , the sun itself will incur changes and development that has considerable effects and concern to the life aspects of the planet . Presently , the sun is discovered to be given detrimental radiations towards the planet . In addition , further observation has established the theory regarding the cycle of the sun which also has a significant effect on the survival aspect of life in the planet . This concern are tied to the sun which still manifests as the primary factor and continuing source of life in this planet
DQ4 : Humanity in AD 5 ,000 ,000 ,000 . Do you think humanity is likely to survive until the Sun begins to expand into a red giant 5 billion years from now , or we will be long gone before then ? Is there anything we should be doing now with the certain death of the Sun ? As established based from advanced astronomic knowledge , each stars in the universe undergo several stages of development and changes as part of their life cycle . The sun in particular is also an astronomical star thus , it will undergo similar changes and development which , in turn is established to have a detrimental effect on the life conditions in the planet
About 5 billion years in the future , the sun is projected by most astronomers to be in the state wherein it has already consumed up of its hydrogen fuel and starts to die . As such , it will grow brighter and hotter thus , altering its present perfectly-condition effect on the planet Earth 's environment . As projected in these conditions , the Earth 's polar caps will melt , and the ocean will turn to steam thus altering the intricate balance of water in the planet . Because of this all life on Earth will die in the stifling heat and the destruction of the delicate life-sustaining balance in the environment . With the absence of water , hotter solar environment , and more intense radiation all life including humanity will seize to exist in the planet . As the expansion of the sun in this state is gradual , it is likely that life before this period will already start to deteriorate as the condition and nature of sun starts to develop into this stage . As the period goes nearer with the period of 5 billion years , the previously stated conditions will start to escalate gradually destroying the delicate balance of the life-support system of the planet . To address this likely fate of the planet , the only possible solution for the survival of the humanity is to utilize the following billion of years to develop ways to discover another suitable planet to live in as this is likely more possible rather than hindering the massive development in the life cycle of the sun Astronomy Week 3 DQs PAGE 1 ...
