1 . The moon is moving away from the sun in a rate of 3 .8 centimeters in a year and it is mainly due to the fact that the moon is raising the tides on Earth . The moon 's gravity tends to create tidal bulges that make the earth a little distorted by a few centimeters . It appears somewhat oblong in shape because of that . Now , these tidal bulges also exert gravitation pull against the Moon . The earth rotates once in every twenty-four hours , in contrast with the moon

that orbits only once in every twenty-seven days . Because of this , the moon 's tendency is to pull back on the tidal bulges , causing relative slowness in the Earth 's rotation . The tidal friction , on the other hand , transfers energy from the Earth into to orbit of the Moon , thus making the orbit bigger , and farther from the earth , as seen by the reflectors that were left there by Apollo astronauts (Scharringhausen 2002

2 . Magnetosphere is the space around the Earth , which is controlled by its magnetic field . It is made into existence out of the current that freely flows in space mixed with several streaming particles , electric fields , electromagnetic radiations , as well as the ever-changing Earth 's magnetic field . Magnetosphere is the protection of the Earth against the Solar wind . Without the magnetosphere , the Earth will lose its atmosphere , as well as its oceans and waters , just like what happened in Venus and Mars , which both have weak magnetospheres (Six 1996

3 . Political machines are organizations that the local government sets up to ensure prominence and victory comes Election Day . The political machines are headed by big bosses who are willing to use different ways either legal or illegal , to ensure the success of the party that created them . In the process , they tend to protect gamblers , plumps , and similar suppliers of municipal vices , which in turn , donate large amounts to the machine . The money they contribute will be used as political funds during campaigns and even for personal profits . This is an opportunity seen by organized crime groups to let them function and do their dealing operations covertly , as if with consent .
