Date :Asperger syndrome is a neuro biological development dis that affects communication and social relation skills it affects intelligence and communications abilities of a person

It is a form of autism as it exhibits some characteristics that are common to both , for instance impaired language and dificulties in communication . There are also difficulties engaging in imaginative social settings and plays . However , people with autism are far worse in speaking fluently than those with Asperger syndrome

who most often than not rate highly in intelligence . They are able to progress well in education and also fair well in employment

It is named after Hans Asperger , an Australian physician , after a research he carried on behavioral patterns of kids who were exhibiting social and communication difficulties .Unlike autism where people diagnosed are seen having problems relating to the wider society like being withdrawn and showing an un-understable disinterest in their surroundings , those with Asperger syndrome are mostly sociable and seem to enjoy and yearn for social contacts . However they find it difficult understanding non-verbal cues that are considered normal to most people making it hard for them to interact with people who might be ignorant of their special needs (National Autistic Society , 2007 . They have a problem deciphering the reactions of those that they are interacting or conversing with and hence most often than not maybe regarded as insensitive . Although they may speak well , they are too literal with problems understanding jokes , metaphors or certain phrase that have figurative meanings

They also have difficulties having a creative imagination and hence they may have problems in academic s that require argumentations and imaginations like humanities . They have however an obsession with some interests and hobbies especially those involving memorizing arrangements or facts . Their neurological diss may cause them to have certain behaviors that we may consider abnormal . For instance , they may have a devoted love for routines and get overly upset when changes are introduced . The causes of Asperger syndrome are not yet known and studies are still under way to establish possible causes . Health experts believe that the dis emanates from many causes from hereditary , caused by other mental dis like depression and physical factors that affect the brain . All in all they have no link to emotional satisfaction , social upbringing or anything that may arise from poor parenting as is the assumption held by many people (Kids health , 2007

It is a very difficult syndrome to diagnose .The children still function well in many activities . It also exists in different forms such that two children suffering from Asperger syndrome may not exhibit similar traits . Professional help should be sought by a parent whose kid exhibits any of the named symptoms .A psycho-social evaluation will be carried out to assess the child 's communication and social skills .
