Women are sill expected to act in a very conventional manner wherein they follow their husband and is expected to display loyalty , trust and honesty to him and to their family . Women in contemporary Asia are still expected to be submissive and highly dependent . Nevertheless , these concepts are challenged in the idea presented by the Film `My Sassy Girl . The

woman portrayed in this film is assertive and is always in command . The female lead character would do whatever she wants when she wants it . She is displayed as highly educated but she is still displayed as delicate and simple . In both stories , women of contemporary Asia are portrayed with unique smartness and a recognition that they can fight back to men or at least assert themselves . There is a manifestation of awareness of their capability and power that has long been suppressed by the Asian culture which is mostly dominated by patriarchy
