The Asian Art Museum building at San Francisco

The Asian Art Museum Building

The Asian Art Museum formerly housed the San Francisco Main Library Because the building was reused , the Beaux art style of the structure remained as one of the main features of the exterior surface of the museum . Coincidentally , the Beaux architectural style represented the formidable mission of the museum of exhibiting thousands of Asian artworks from 6 ,000 years of history to promote knowledge and appreciation for Asian art and culture . The Asian art Museum served as an appropriate venue for the wide array and delicate collections

of Asian cultural artifacts . It presented through its elegant and historical design a sense of sophistication which is the primary criteria of a museum . The architects made the right choice in preserving the Beaux art style of the building because without it the Asian Art Museum would not be considered as a land mark and a tourist spot in San Francisco

Aside from the style of the facade , the interior of the museum have also adapted some elements of the former San Francisco Library . One of this feature is the etching of the phrase , Quite is Kin to Learning The designers of the museum probably kept this to remind museum enthusiasts the rich history of the building . The statement is also applicable to the museum because the place is conducive for art appreciation and learning as well . The intricate vast ceiling , huge columns and flamboyant giant staircase were the elements borrowed from the original interior of the establishment . As mentioned earlier , the Beaux art styled remained to be the dominant feature inside the museum because this particular style exuded glamour and creativity . Clearly the elements adapted from San Francisco 's Main Library added up to the uniqueness and most importantly to the elegant beauty of the structure in which all museums should possess since these places are considered as repositories of art and culture
