Most of us are awakened by the music of a clock or a radio , the chirping of the birds , the rustling of the leaves or the sound of rippling water Wherever we go , whether it is in school , churches , shopping malls , even in

public vehicles , we feel and hear music . It is because the world is filled with sounds however not all sounds are music . That is why there are techniques and elements that are used to enable us to create such a beautiful music
These are different definitions of music and even interpretation differs among individuals . Upon listening variations of sounds , the pleasant sounds may not be pleasant to others . As listeners , it depends on how we respond to music . Thus , music is defined as an organized sound to express a particular idea , mood , interest or feeling through tonal movement
Music is produced because of four basic characteristics of sounds pitch , duration , intensity and timbre . Pitch refers to the highness or lowness of sound . With the use of clefs the pitch of a note will be fixed and through musical symbols such as sharp , flat and natural sign it can also alter the pitch of a note . Duration is the length of time a sound is held . It is also determined by the kind of notes and rests used . While intensity is the loudness or softness of a sound , it is also referring as dynamics which is one of the expressive elements of music . To tone up with a beautiful music , we need to know and learn the basic elements : the rhythm and melody . Rhythm is a flow of movement of sounds because it comprises with beats , accent and meter . Rhythm is often called heartbeat ' of music . When we listen to music , we feel the beat , some beats are strong , and some are weak . Accent is a mark for a strong beat . It is also very important to used meter which is the grouping of beats . Meter may also be written in numbers , and we refer to it as meter signature or time signature .
