Parameters of Employability

Malcolm Gladwell argues the dilemmas related to finding appropriate people for a specific job in his article Most Likely To Succeed . He is of the view that no specific parameters are available to employers to judge the suitability and potential of individuals and there is no definite mean of evaluation . He also considers the specific standards and parameters in every career and shows how these standards are incapable of enabling the recruiters to select the right person

for the right job . He further takes into account the differentiation between selection and performance and shows that in most cases , candidates may their employers before they receive the job , but they end up as disappointing employees (Gladwell 2008 ) It happens oftentimes as candidates seem to perform the best before they receive the job and influence the decision-making in this way but their professional backgrounds , abilities , skills and knowledge does not help them make good employees . Gladwell suggests some solutions e .g . giving candidates proper training session and adjustment time so that employers could test candidates before they hire them . He further asserts that standard line of parameters must be lowered down in to include different other personality traits and characteristics because person 's background can not be the only factor to measure a person (Gladwell 2008
