This is how artworks seem to be categorized by period . There are certain similarities between artworks that can be collectively considered as of one age . But there are also significant differences that allow the artist to still be defined from the other artists of

his time

The sculptures by Donatello and Bernimi depict the human form as a perfect shape ever known . The lines and sinewy muscles of the sculptures represent a sense of power and agility . The similarities between the two sculptures rely on how every dip and plane of the human body is intricately forms by the masters ' hands . Both are full body representations of the artists ' imagination and ideas . Another blunt similarity of both sculptures is that the subjects are naked

On the other hand , the difference between both sculptures relies on the subject suggested by the poses of the character . Donatello 's The Bronze David shows a relaxed and almost carefree pose . Leaning on one leg and a cane , and a fist on the opposite hip , Donatello 's work suggests a certain level of power . Bernimi 's David is curved at an angle , showing contracting muscles . The action being done by the subject is definitely different with that of Donatello 's . When looking at it , it does not show a similar sense of power . Instead , it shows a rather aggressive posture The materials used by the artists are also different . It can also suggest to the ideas behind its creation

The paintings by Cimabue and Jan van Eyck definitely relay the realities revolving the Catholic faith . Both paintings showed gentle faces and calm appearances . The paintings also suggests the architectural designs used in the time when they were created . Both have definite balance on the use of shadows and color
