Sculptures in India have proliferated thousands of centuries ago . These pieces are manifestations of religious icons that bear the prevailing religion during those times . They are objects often found in temples and exemplified the gods and goddesses that people have worshipped and revered . The Ganesh and Siddhi Sculpture , a buff sandstone statue which dates back to 10th and 11th century , is one of the dominant figures in Central India that demonstrates the most identifiable

and adored god in the Hindu pantheon

Ganesh is the elephant-headed deity and the son of Shiva and Parvati He is considered and believed to be the god of good luck , wisdom and remover of obstacles that is why he is being venerated . Moreover , he is recognized as the patron of letters due to his renowned script Mahabharata

In the aforementioned sculpture entitled Ganesh and Siddhi , the elephant-headed deity is depicted with one of his consorts or wives named Siddhi . Ganesh is illustrated in such a way that his body weight is concentrated on his left side in to accommodate Siddhi who administers to attain poise and balance on his bent leg . Their appearance conveys a vigorous rhythm between the figures and the enticing , sensuous carving and elaborate details mirror the tenth and eleventh century sculpture of Central India
