Introduction

Hinduism is one of the main religions of the world with prominence in the Indian sub-continent and some parts of Asia . As one of the religious groups , Hinduism had its cultural implications in the societies within which it was practiced ranging from beliefs to architectural designs that were reflected in the temples . Hinduism was associated with unique architectural designs that characterized their worship temples that were built in areas where the religion was prominent . Hinduism spread to different regions

of Asia leaving its mark in ancient civilizations in the region . This paper shall look at the historical concept of Hinduism and analyze its temples that were found in Southeast Asia . The temples in focus shall be the complexes that were found in ancient Southeast Asia particularly in Angkor in Cambodia and at Bagan in Burma now known as Myanmar

History of Hinduism

The history of Hinduism can be traced with the invasion of the Aryans who invaded the Indian Sub-continent during the 1500 BC . The Aryans had a caste system in where Brahmans was regarded as the Priestly caste responsible for the sacrificial rites . There ritual hymns have been able to be passed on to generations for many years and are found in the Rigveda which forms the earliest religious texts to have been uncovered From the hymns in this holy book , the first god of the Aryan people was called Indra . Indra was a war god responsible for great slaying of demons...
