Applying epidemiology in public health
Public Health 1 Epidemiology , a basic but significant tool in dealing with health problems , especially in the governance of public health , it guides one with the procurement of programs and activities that are specific and appropriate to the people and the environment In the simulation we were to use epidemiology and hypothesis testing to come out with a good programs that can be utilize within the community The job specified is a program manager for Luton Health Department , the case scenario , is an increase in the prevalence of asthma attack within

the county . With time and budget constraints , a specific action must be done immediately . In using epidemiology one should note about the following , the problem at hand , gathering pertinent information , and specificity of the problem , the planning and the program to implement First , after discovering the problem and the population affected gathering information which is based on the problem , in relation to the correct population target must be made . In the simulation I chose to take up the SAC .com survey results , since this is a published work and been studied it would directly owns up the validity of the gathered information , also it already points out the same target population that the county is facing . The outcome to my selection was fairly good because I got 1 out of 3 reports that should be bought but although there are 3 reports classified as good sources of information , I would only take two . Since I already have the survey results , I think the journal of Lifestyle and Climates will help much more since asthma attack is also a seasonal problem and lifestyle directly affects the prevention of the attack
Armed with correct information , the next step was to find out the specifics or the factors that contribute to the problem . In this case I chose tobacco smoking , animal dander
strong odor and physical activity to be the main triggers for grade school children
Public Health 2
I chose them because they are part of the main causes of asthma attack which are allergens and irritants . They are also one of the top causes of an asthma attack among children in 3 counties ' that had been part of the survey . With these answers , the outcome of my selection was good since I got 3 out 4 correctly the only difference was I chose strong odor rather than pollution , since it tackles a broader scope on the environment . Perhaps looking on a general perspective on the environmental factor and the surrounding of the client helps one to address respiratory problems efficiently
After determining the main triggers , choosing a chief problem must be done in for the program activities to precisely address the problem . In to come out with that , a hypothesis must be created to check the level of significance of each specified causes . The level of significance chosen was 5 , since it will create a lower probability of a Type I and Type II error . Accordingly my approved...
