Applying Learning Theories

The instructional theory and learning theory are different but interrelated concepts . The former pertains to the methods and techniques which could enhance learning while the latter refers to the process of learning itself . Thus , the instructional theory focuses to any medium that could facilitate learning (e .g . the instructor , while the learning theory focuses on the receiver /learner and the way he receives his learning

According to Robert M . Gagne , the conditions of learning

can be classified into two types of conditions : the internal and external Internal conditions include attention , motivation and recall . It means that the information being fed or given to someone are affected by the mode or rate of the factors mentioned above . External conditions , on the other hand , are the factors that could affect one 's behavior and include the arrangement and timing of stimulus events . Gagne claims that there are four phases of learning , namely : 1 . receiving the stimulus situation , 2 . stage of acquisition , 3 . storage and 4 . retrieval . The role of transfer is essential since it is the time that the learner could apply the knowledge and the skills that he gained during the learning process . By this means , he is able to transfer his knowledge to the real world situations . Moreover , he will not be stocked with the literal meanings of life concepts written on books . Practical knowledge will be applied so as to demonstrate an efficient learning
