Statement of Purpose

Throughout my life I have strived to be a contributing and positive influence on my surrounding community . Since I can remember , it has been my dream to one day work for an organization that is committed to the common good . Growing up in a multifaceted and diverse cultural and political atmosphere has demonstrated to me the necessity of cultivating an understanding of equality and tolerance . For these reasons I am applying for the Master 's degree in International Relations and International Economic Development

Growing up in regions as

diverse as Italy , Africa , and the Middle East has shown me both the possibilities and the challenges that international relations present . Both the possibilities and the challenges provoke me into action as I cannot stand idly by and watch poor nations suffer while their neighbors live a life of luxury . In this respect , I wish to devote myself to creating and implementing alternative economic developmental solutions that positively impact the everyday lives of the people who need help the most

In my mind , International Economic Development needs to transcend just offering money to solve problems . Economic Development needs to be environmentally sustainable while at the same time as it provides tangible positive effects . Organizations such as the United Nations as well as other Non-Governmental Organizations are beginning to understand the challenges that economic development programs face and I want to be at the forefront of providing the instrumental change that turns economic development into a people first endeavor
