The company can capitalize on the preference that the customer has on this product line and try to attract these customers to becoming potential markets for other product lines of the company . Threats are also identified for the company . One of the more persistent threats is the high degree of technological shifts and changes . If the firm would not be able to cope up with the more recent and more innovative products that their competitors are offering the market , this pose the threat of losing their market share and the potential market for their products . Aside from the threat posed by competitors , the firm also faces threat from suppliers whose bargaining power could lessen the potential benefits that the firm can incur and the threat from substitute products whose presence could also lead to customer turnover to patronize these substitute products

With the scenario that Apple is facing right now , a strategy that they can adapt is opening the closed system on which they are operating Developing the current products or innovating new ones that will be compatible to other operating systems developed by competitors would extend the competitive advantage that their products have . Another strategy is to stick with having the closed system and develop innovations that would suffice the ever changing demands of the market so as to retain their loyalty and satisfy their needs . The firm could also try to merge with other IT firms so as to develop new versions of their current product lines that would be more user-friendly
