Apollo 13

p As stated by Neil Armstrong , One small step for man , one giant leap for mankind , that was the best way of putting into print one of man 's greatest feat . Flying to the moon is not just a dream now but a part of the human race 's history . Apollo 12 proved to the world that nothing is impossible with man 's intelligence and perseverance . However , knowing that it is not mission impossible , man decided to expound his knowledge about the courier of the night , the moon . This was a mission intended

for Apollo 13

The scene started with a few astronauts celebrating man 's victory of reaching the moon , like one big happy family , at Jim Lovell 's house who by the way has gone to a mission prior to Apollo 12 . The team of astronauts to embark on the Apollo 13 mission were Fred Haise , Alen Shepard and Ken Mattingly . However 6 months prior to launch , Shepard came up with a bad ear infection thus making him physically unqualified for the mission . It was Jim Lovell who substituted for him . He had his eyes and heart set on the mission , hoping there would be an Apollo 14 to make his dream of setting foot on the moon come true . But with some twist of fate all of his wishful thinking came to a reality . They all underwent meticulous training for the said mission leaving no space for any miscalculation . But the team 's optimism cannot be dejected with unscientific beliefs , so they simply shrugged it off with a good laugh . Again , fate made a twist on this historical event . Jim was called in by his superiors and was told that Ken Mattingly didn 't pass a certain blood test and may have measles . This is a risk for the astronauts , health wise , that they cannot take . This wasn 't a simple bad news for Ken alone but it would have a negative effect on the team itself as perceived by Jim . The complications it will bring about to their perfect coordination , like a single-bodied mechanism working in one smooth flow , will be definitely tainted by uncertainties . In spite of the whole team 's devastation Jim had to make a call , it 's either they all lose the chance of a lifetime or sacrifice the dream of one man . Jack Swigert was decided to be pulled- in , since he was part of the back-up crew , in place of Ken . It was like a new kid in town going to his new...
