On July 20 , 2010 , Pat Shipman , paleontologist of Penn State University proposed that animal connection as a new hypothesis that contributed in the human evolution and human nature . He says that the inter-reliance of humans with the animals is a vital factor to affect the human evolution for the last 2 .6 million years

Shipman indicated that this animal connection was proven by the invention of stone tools in the ancient time . Having these kinds of tools pushed human ancestors to become efficient hunters and predators which left marks and were noticeable

in their fossilized form . This type of activity enabled humans , being the predator , to become more competitive with the other predators in the field . They learned to observe and understand the behavior of their preys while getting more meat because of this strategy . Shipman also added that humans who dealt with their competitors contributed in the evolutionary advances in terms of natural selection

She explained that this is a factor in evolving language as a way of communicating through the use of signs and symbols . It is very evident in ancient artworks that portray animals and other possible crucial topics such as water , tools and weapons . Shipman views this imbalance as a proof that there is an evolutionary proof as a mean of storing and conveying information through the use of symbols . She also concluded that wild animals became beneficial that tend humans to nurture these animals , same thing we does to dogs as of now
