1 .0 Abstract

In this , I have considered ten animals namely : Emperor penguin Golden lion Tamarin , American Bison , Dromedary /Arabian camel , Hairy rhinoceros , white napped crane , Kodiak Bear , cotton mouth snake , Fly river Turtle , and Giraffe . For each of the animal , its taxonomy habitant , population status , its historical and current location as well as its adaptations , have been identified and discussed , showing the measures or rather the actions that have been taken to help the species which need help and

special care . The success of these measures or actions has been analyzed

2 .0 Introduction

Although different animals may share a home as in case of a zoo , their needs in terms of food , and other necessities vary considerably from one animal to another . Some barely rely on meat as food , other animals will require vegetation as food , while others will really on both meat , and vegetation . In their natural habitants , animals tend to provide for themselves , and in such case , you will find the carnivorous , which rely on flesh for survival hunting other animal and herbivorous relying on the natural as well as man made vegetation

This means that these animals have specific special adaptation which facilitates their survival , and which helps the animal to successfully living in the wilderness , getting the basic needs . Unlike in the wilderness where animal adapts to the environment , in zoo , the animals are provided with necessity , such as area from which herbivorous will get fresh vegetation , and a means by which carnivorous can feed effectively without harming or hunting other animals

3 .01 Golden Lion Tamarin

The animal is recognized by various names , among which is Golden lion marmoset , and Tamarin Soyeux . Its scientific name is Leontopithecus rosalia

3 .010 Taxonomy

The Golden lion tamarin , has been considered to have two species These species are the Leontopithecus Chrysopygus which is he golden rumped lion tamarin , and Leontopithecus chrysomelas which is the golden-headed lion tamarin

3 .011 Biology

Lion tamarin are characterized by a mane that is runs form the top of the head , cheek , to the throat . The mane has long hair , and the characteristic color of golden lion tamarin is golden with occasional brown , black , or orange coloration on the fore paws and tail . The animal has an average of 25cm in length , excluding the tail , and its weight is approximately half a kilogram . The tail of the animal is usually longer than the body length , and males are usually larger than females . Golden lion tamarin feeds on small vertebrates , insects , gum and nectar , as well as wild fruits

3 .012 Habitants

The animal mostly prefers lowland tropical forest , which lies between sea level , and 3300ft above sea level . However , the animal can also be found in cultivated areas , and secondary forests .
