Popular music is referred to as the kind of music that everybody would want to listen to . Popular music comes in any style and it is known to be the kind that the general public listens to , most especially the youth of today . Popular music ranges from rock to pop music which is commonly known today . Although this kind of music is loved and is being fond of , it is explained to be contradicting to the original art of music or the classical music

, which on early ages was considered as the music of people who were on upper class , people who were elite and or aristocrats . Classical music is mostly instrumental and obtains lyrics that give an aesthetic satisfaction , something that is perceptible by the senses , while popular music is commonly not played with instruments alone and the lyrics are somewhat catchy

Popular music has been often abbreviated into pop music , although the term is more commonly used as a narrower branch of popular music itself . When we say popular music the first thing that comes into our mind is the music of popular artists of different genres Beatles Rolling Stones , Van Halen , Led Zeppelin , Elvis Presley , Patti Austin Elton John , Spice Girls , Britney Spears , et cetera . These artists were what we call icons of popular music or pop music they have been the start of popular music and their kind of music is the ones that people of their generation are listening to . They give the most influence to the general public , most especially the youth

Popular music 's major influence on human beings is that the listeners become more inclined to music . They tend to purchase records even if this implies that money has to be involved . Another influence of popular music is in the behavior of an individual . However , music is not the only music itself music comes with technology that is why this time the production and consumption of music is still at its peak
