With the increasing challenges surrounding the realm of education and work , the American government has been finding ways and solutions to help improve the capability and access of individuals with disabilities As it seeks to address the challenges and diversity in American society it has enacted laws that will ensure that equal rights and benefits are administered to these individuals . In the end , by constantly seeking new ways to extend its arm towards these people , new avenues for change and growth can be made possible amidst the physical hurdles

the American 's with Disabilities Act (ADA ) of 1990 and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA ) of 1998 sought to provide opportunities wherein people classified to be `disabled ' cannot be hindered of its given rights surrounding employment and education (Jones and Apling , 2002 . Though these two have the same goals and intention , the two mandates have different scope and applicatory methods

Looking at the ADA , it is a binding statute that in itself provides laws that prohibit discrimination and prejudice against individuals who fit in the category as `disabled ' citizens . This provision points out the necessary conditions for violations and justifies the sanctions corresponding to the actions made (Jones , 2003 .
