The responsibility of the militia in the case of the United States was to basically supress the native population and safeguard the British interests in the geographical region . The militia was basically equipped and trained along the regular army lines and were to act as the front runners in any altercation

The movement of the English into the region previously dominated by the Indians was seen as an act against the locals as they were maltreated and they began to become increasingly hostile .
