Abstract

The educational curriculum in American schools has had a long and devoted history of educators working to develop its core values . From the middle of the 19th Century until the present day , it has continuously been shaped and molded by the enormous social , economic and political forces of each noteworthy era in American history . It was developed by dedicated educators who remained concerned with strengthening the nation 's educational standards . Their hard work and their professional motivations helped to shape

movements that make up what is actually a sparse curriculum tree . This tree has supported these various branches that steadfastly grew out of the tremendous motive forces that have left their own individual marks upon the history of American education

The history of the curriculum of American education cannot be viewed in a vacuum . The various social , political , and economic developments throughout the history of the United States have always had a direct impact upon the multiple nuances that have determined its constant evolution . Upon deeper inquiry what we find however , is something that can be viewed as the American Curriculum Tree with its various branches constantly evolving within a contentious struggle to gain control of the curriculum . Its roots are planted firmly , and penetrate deeply into the very soil of American History
