History like seeds is sown several years back , it germinates into a future of cultural heritage , which conserves a people 's habits and their age-long virtues . However , today many nations are fast loosing their history to the fast changing nature of the contemporary world . America I believe has taken the foremost position of one of the nations experiencing social decadence as a result of her inclination towards the extreme radical attitudes predominant in contemporary world . In America today , all and sundry would agree that varying degree of this writer 's fear that made him write this social satire are naturally enfolding in our faces . Although this moral and social decadence is not peculiar to America alone , for truly it is common to all western countries , which has eventually been infected and eating away the heart of the developing countries too , most especially the Africa countries

I am strongly inclined towards the opinion that America today resembles the setting and plot in the novel Brave New World for several reasons To give a brief of what the novel is all about will readily prove my point . The novel describes a setting where man lives in a carefree , very healthy and technologically advance society . Human had sacrificed religion , science , arts and all other means of human expression to achieve this new world , hence social issues like marriage brotherhood and even natural child birth are abolished . Children are generated in hatcheries ( the Fertilizing Room . Indeed , natural birth is prohibited and seen as a shame for ( everyone belongs to everyone else . In World State society , natural birth or pregnancy is smut of the most vulgar kind . To call someone a mother or father is the lowest insult

However , heterosexual intercourse is encouraged and indulged . Sex is a social instrument and is encouraged at a tender age . It is essentially a hedonistic society where moral standard is rather low , driven only by and for pleasure , pleasure derived from flagrant promiscuous sex and blatant use of drugs . These drugs are called soma , which is a strong psychotropic supplied by the government regularly on a dosage . When taken it enables one to elude pain and sorrow by subjecting the memories to hallucination and fantasy . The society is highly stratified into five different castes which are : the Alphas , Betas , Gammas , Deltas , and Epsilons . Hierarchy is from Alpha to Epsilons and each caste is further divided into minus and plus . There no competition between castes for each caste is trained only for his role in the society . Again in the brave world , poverty is wants and since the issue of parenthood is not allowed the pain of loss to death does not exist , it is a state of virtually no pain
