Introduction

Alexander the Great (Megas Alexandros in Greek ) or Alexander III of Macedonia is classified in history as one of the greatest and most successful king of ancient Greek . He was the undisputed King of Macedonia who was undefeated in battle and during his reign , he had conquered most of the world to establish one of the most powerful empires of that time . He was born on 20th July 356 B .C and died on 10th June 323 B .C and

was born of Philip III of Macedonia , who bequeathed him the reign to the kingdom after his demise . Alexander 's mother was Olympus the Princess of Epirus (Bosworth A .B , Baynham E .J .47

His upbringing played a very significant role in his future achievements and nothing prepared him for this than the contributions of those who chipped in to shape him up militarily and psychologically . He is credited for overthrowing the all-powerful Persian Empire under King Darius II and would later lay a Hellenistic foundation for the kingdoms he established . He went down in history as a classic hero and one of the most brilliant minds in history . This essay will describe his upbringing that would influence his later exploits including his role and eventual demise and his battles with Darius of Persia

The person who laid the foundation for his life was his father , King Philip III of Macedonia who prepared him well to succeed him (Arrian J et al 123 ) Alexander 's exploits and influence were greatly facilitated not only by the cultural diffusion that was taking place between the west and the east at that time , but was majorly influenced by the various politico-military schemes that were taking place at that time From an early age , he was raised to become the next king . Aristotle personally taught him therefore he was highly saturated with high levels of ideals and aspirations . Philip chose Aristotle as Alexander 's tutor , when Alexander attained the age of 13 years of age (Arrian J , et al 124 ) Previously Philip was not quite involved in rising up the son whose upbringing had been left entirely to Lanike , his nurse .
