Oftentimes , young children with communication dis have a low self-esteem . They tend to keep away from their peers and classmates who do not understand what they are trying to convey . They also suffer from an emotional problem and prefer to be alone During my growing years , I have witnessed a child who has a speech problem that affected her emotionally . I befriended her and learned that she has great potentials to achieve just like any other individuals . At first , it was difficult to understand her and I can feel her frustration . Sometimes

, we communicate through writing whenever she finds it difficult to pronounce some words . I have marveled at her strength and determination . Due to this exceptional experience , I develop a passion to teach children with special needs specifically those with communication dis . Now , I am inspired and determined to pursue a degree in Education and major in Communication Arts
Communication is very important in our daily lives . We have spent a lot of time in thinking , listening , speaking , reading and writing . The absence or lack of communication skills can affect anyone 's life . In college , I want to learn how to teach persons with communication dis and help them feel good about themselves in to appreciate life . In addition , I also want to learn sign language so I can communicate with persons who have hearing impairments . Learning the language of the Deaf is the best way for me to understand their feelings and their culture . While I am in college , I will continue to reach out to students with special needs and do volunteer service during summer or during my vacant period
I feel fulfilled each time I see children with communication dis smile and enjoy their lives . I hate to see them suffer emotionally as a result of their disability . After completing my Bachelors degree , I want to get credentialed so I can become a professional teacher . My personal and professional fulfillment will come when I see my students succeed in their chosen endeavor ...
