In looking for a career suitable to my personal interests and the growing need for technologically advanced employees , I have chosen Network Administrator . This position requires a well-rounded education in computer technology and logical mindsets . In learning to create a hub for communication within any industry , this path leads to every industry in business and non-profit sector

Network administrators not only assess the technical needs of a client they also must be able to creatively answer those issues and maintain

the process chosen . I am astounded by the applications for computers today . Network administrators are needed for simple inter-office communications , corporate - customer relations and everyday functions within a company . They serve as the force behind the communication of ideas and ideals . Limitations are hardly known in this field , it is a dynamic and fluid environment I am well suited for

Why do I feel this is the career path for me ? My skill set includes an ability to work both on my own as well as in a team atmosphere . I believe attention to detail allows one to think outside the box in to creatively problem-solve . Maintenance of systems is an extremely important part of this career path and I feel I excel at this as well

I do not wish to simply remain in the world and hold down a job Although this field offers immense employment security , I want a position where I can continue to grow and improve on my knowledge base and change as technology does . I want to be at the forefront of new technologies and assess each new thing as it comes along

Network Administrators work on various computer-based items , to include software , hardware , personal computers , business computers , printers servers and of course networks themselves . The work entails being able to trouble-shoot effectively , debug when needed and create networks from the ground up . The knowledgebase can be as broad or as finite as I chose to make it , but constantly changing and updated

I hope to gain certification through the various Microsoft programs , as they are the main producer in this field . The required courses in the A .A .S . program are highly motivating in that they demand a final semester practicum . First-hand practical knowledge is always the best way to cement the skills obtained during studies . The final semester 's Computer software project should also provide me with the necessary first-hand experience of actually seeing a project thought to its culmination

This is an exciting opportunity offered through Project Quest , and I am ready to take up that challenge . Here in San Antonio , entry-level positions range in pay around 30 ,000 and go up with experience and knowledge . Opportunities exist within Novell , Microsoft , Cisco , RedHat or anywhere people are using a personal computer to share information and ideas . If they are using a computer-based communication system they will need a Network Administrator
