A controversy has rose from the fight for rights and fight for life This has remained to be a moral , emotional and political issue . There are arguments which have been centered on abortion debate , some supporting it fully with others being against it . Our constitution gives women the right to what they choose with their bodies . I contend that it is moral to get an abortion . There are cases such as rape and danger to the mother

that makes abortion a virtuous act . Pro choice is just that it means , we have the right to choose to have an abortion or not to have . How women makes the choice varies from woman to woman , but can the right to make that choice be considered immoral ? Women has rights as human being to control their own body

INTRODUCTION

Abortion can be defined as purposeful termination of a pregnancy Different scholars have given various definitions , Torr , 2000 , defines abortion as interruption of pregnancy aiming at the removal of a dead fetus . Allen , 1984 , defines it as expulsing an embryo from the uterus which results to it 's death . Cara , 2002 , simply defines abortion as ending a pregnancy while Daniel , 1997 , says abortion is an interruption of a pregnancy with the aim of killing and removing the embryo . Medical abortion is done within the first nine weeks of a pregnancy , a pill known as Mifepristone is normally used . It blocks special hormones needed for pregnancy known as progesterone , causing the uterus to thin After some few days another medicine known as Misoprostolis is administered which empties the uterus and makes it to contract . Surgical abortion involves a procedure which is done by a doctor to remove the womb lining . They are divided into two categories , Manual Vacuum Aspiration (M .V .A ) normally done within the first ten weeks of the pregnancy and Dilation and Suction Curettage (D .A .C ) done not after the thirteen week

The Origin of abortion is not known but considering the United State 's laws on abortion were first appeared in the 1820s . They were forbidding purposeful termination of pregnancy after the fourth week . By 1900 most abortions in United States had been outlawed through the effort of legislators , physicians and American Medical Association . During the reign of Comstock , law of abortions reduced since the law banned devices for controlling birth and birth control information . Feminists like Susan B . Anthony campaigned against abortion . During those times medical procedure that was used was unsafe putting the woman 's health and life at a very high risk . By 1965 , abortion was banned in all fifty states . In 1973 , a declaration was given by the supreme court stating that most laws on abortion were unconstitutional and women were given the right to terminate a pregnancy or to keep it .
