Abortion remains a very controversial that derives divergent views from the masses . It is legal in some countries especially on medical grounds . It is therefore permitted when there is evidence that carrying the pregnancy to term would compromise the physical or mental well being of the woman in question . Proponents of abortion argue that abortion should be legalized to

br overcome the adverse effects that occur considering that women will still seek abortion even when it is illegal . To them , abortion is a private issue and the woman has the right to do as she s with it `Abortion is a woman 's right ' and women should be allowed to exercise their `right to choose ' whatever they want to with their bodies a viewpoint that opponents refute (Meyers 517 . To them , the fetus is a respiratory system and a unique DNA and cannot be termed as part of their body . Again , people do not have a right to assault or expose their bodies to drugs on the mere reasoning that it 's their bodies . They further argue that the woman 's life is better or more valuable than the fetus suggesting that a fetus is not a person . This is however an understatement as the fetus heart beat can be felt to show that it is actually living . A person must not necessarily be someone in the society who understands the societal values and norms

They also argue that not legalizing abortion would be a discriminating act against the poor in society . To them , abortion should be like a contraceptive measure where unwanted pregnancies are eliminated Abortions by women who are raped are supported as it is thought that carrying the pregnancy to term only works to traumatize the women . It is also favored on incest cases or in cases of fetal abnormalities but these cases present a minimal percentage of Proponents of abortion argue that it is appropriate when done on school girls so that they can continue with their studies again such girls cannot be able to raise children as they too are children . Abortion seems the channel that saves schoolgirls from embarrassment and interruption of education or sporty activities participation . Other women opt for abortion so that they can safeguard their jobs . Opponents however reject this argument as pregnant women are not fired or discriminated and again most pregnant women function or perform their duties appropriately (Intecon 452

Moral reasons to support abortion includes the need to control the population so as to reduce competition for the available amenities . This argument is criticized on the grounds that drought and famine also reduces the population levels and the question posed is that should they too be condoned ? Abortion also ensures the welfare of children bore in the sense that only the wanted ones are born . Wanted children face minimal chances...
