To choose a famous image is to reference something that is part of culture . This object , by aiming at verifiable representation is both cute and subtly confrontational . While intention can never be known , what can be known is that the creator is familiar with the Mona Lisa and hopes that others will know it too so as to catch how "clever " or even "cute " this representation is

New meanings , in this case , are certainly brought about because there is something about this image that changes . Instead of alluring adults , the Mona Lisa has become friendlier , adapted to the child 's mind , and tactile . The Lego pieces add a new dimension to it and this tactility and object-hood makes it much more commonplace yet special . It is newly special in that it seems to spill from the mind of a child , or perhaps , a grown person thinking like a child
