The turbulence in the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and US Involvement in Afghan affairs has been in the news for quite some time . In fact Afghanistan has been in a state of continuous warfare and turbulence since the year 1978 , when the government of Muhammad Daoud Khan was overthrown by forces loyal to Muhammad Noor Tarkai , Babrak karmal and Hafizullah Amin . One camp comprised the capitalist countries led by the United States of America (USA , who had proved its economic and military might through its defeat of Japan and its command of the allied forces that invaded Europe from Italy and France towards the mid 1940 's and were instrumental in the defeat of Nazi Germany . The capitalist countries preached the doctrine of free market economics with respect for private property and democratic freedoms .
