The cases that came after had another set of homosexual men as subjects . As

such , the disease was named GRIDS , which stands for Gay-Related Immunodeficiency syndrome . As time passed by , however , a new case was acquired which involved infants . From this it was found that the illness did not merely targeted homosexual men but also children and everyone else . From other reports which were found later , it was indicated that some patients acquired the disease from sharing needles and after blood transfusions With this , it was concluded that the disease was blood borne , and may be transmitted through exchange of fluids . In 1982 , the original name GRIDS was changed to AIDS "HIV /AIDS in TEXAS
Today , the disease remains rampant and at some parts of the country it is even considered an epidemic . In the state of Texas , there is an estimated sixty thousand people who has the disease .
