22U2IP TRANSFER OF LEARNING
Running Head : TRANSFER OF LEARNING Transfer of Learning Insert Student 's Name Insert Affiliation Transfer of Learning Introduction The importance of learning cannot be overemphasized . Learning is a process that has to be approached with due consideration of factors like methods used in the presentation of ideas , analogies , contexts and the audience . These factors have a direct impact on learning and assimilation by students Background on Bloom 's Taxonomy Bloom 's taxonomy is a method of classification that attempts to categorize levels of learning amongst students . The

basic assertion of this classification is that lower levels of learning , that is , less complex s should be taught before the higher levels . This helps to arrange s in the curriculum and decide which ones to treat first (UNC , 2002
Background on Area
Word problems are one of the major ways of framing mathematics questions and usually involve the student thinking out of the box to solve the problem . Principles of cognitive thinking are demonstrated here because students learn more easily by relating new knowledge to existing knowledge (Barrett , 2003
p Probability is calculated by dividing the outcomes by the number of possible outcomes in a given sample space (Math , 1994 . This basic theory is then used in solving more complex word problems and questions related to permutation and combination
Audience
The audience for this exercise was a class of 20 (Insert grade level of students ) students in (Insert name of school , district and country . The average age of the students is (Insert average age of students in class . There were 12 girls and 8 boys . 10 were of American Origin , 4 Hispanic , and 6 Chinese . The whole exercise took a period of two hours each for three days
Terminal Performance Objectives
The students will understand the theories of probability and how it relates to everyday life
The students will be able to compute probability using theories and methods learnt , to arrive at an answer in the form of a fraction
Students will use the knowledge of probability to solve word problems relating to probability and transfer same knowledge to solving problems related to permutation and combination
Instructional Strategies and Methods Used
On the first day , the concept of probability was explained using the example of tossing a coin . The probability of having heads or tails as the desired outcome is one out of two (Math , 1994 . This concept was illustrated graphically by using an actual coin , and a collection of red and blue balls for further illustration . At this stage , the students were able to recognize information and principles in the right form in which they were learnt , that is , students could define the meaning of probability (Dalton Smith , 1986
Assessment of Learning
To assess overall learning amongst the students , the six stages of bloom 's taxonomy were practiced and assessed based on the principles associated with each . To assess their knowledge , the class of 20 students was split into groups of four they read out the definition of...
