Respected Congressmen

I am not an anarchist or a revolutionary , but as a simple citizen of an enlightened era , I find it difficult to understand why we as a society expend so much effort on the perpetrator rather than the victim of a crime ? Once a crime is committed , the accused finds space in national prime time shows his face is on every news while the government spends millions over his trial . The victim is lost in this turmoil , the unbearable grief of their loved ones no louder than a distant murmur

The nearest and the dearest of the victims demand from a civilized society that their sorrow be respected and we , on our part , should do everything in our power to bring them consolation . The best way to do so would be to give them closure - in executing a violent criminal , we reach out to the affected and show them that justice has triumphed . The most fundamental principle of justice is that the punishment should fit the crime . When someone plans and brutally murders another person doesn 't it make sense that the punishment for the perpetrator also be death

Again and again it has been pointed out that we do not have an infallible justice system which means that there exists a chance that an innocent man could one day be put to death . The prospect , I agree , is both possible and terrifying . As congressmen , we hold in our hands the moral and administrative responsibility of this nation...
