Objectively , it is possible that Western thought may not be responsible for the atrocities and human losses caused by either Hiroshima or Holocaust really , how can Western thought be responsible for those who used it to justify their aggression ? However , it was the Western thought that supplied Americans and Nazis with the ideas and the instruments of genocide . Back to middle ages , in the genocides in the British colonies and the United States , and in the case of ideological genocides , exclusion formed part of the process that contributed to the destruction of

Despite the fact that the notion of Holocaust is relatively new , its attributes are readily traced in the colonial history of European states (DeGroot 33 . The history of colonialism knows numerous examples , when indigenous peoples opposing to the development of the new colonial society were removed from their territory , or were wiped out completely . Genocides are always rooted in particular ideologies Hiroshima and Holocaust are rooted in Western thought . Hiroshima and Holocaust are the two icons of the modern Western thought , giving an insight into the consequences that can result of the growing political ambitions and distorted political visions . Now , as half of the century has passed since the tragic events in Auschwitz Western thought is no longer associated with positive enlightenment and the idea of scientific progress rather , it is reflected in the new paradigm comprising helplessness , opposition , oppression , and abuse (Duke 346 . It is difficult to deny the truth : Holocaust and Hiroshima have made us more responsive to other people 's sufferings but the question remains , whether the abovementioned responsiveness was worth millions of people lost under the growing pressures...
