Introduction

The Challenger and Columbia space shuttle disasters are the most unfortunate events in the history of not only US but the entire space community . Although a gap of seventeen years in between both disasters were similar in a way . Trouble to both the shuttles were detected in the initial stages of launching . Even though it raised concerns over the safety of the missions , they were executed due to the go-ahead from the engineers . It is alarming

is that these decisions were very casual and did not anticipate the consequences . This brings forth many question like (a ) How correct was trusting engineers with the launch (b ) Did the engineers act ethically with regards to their decision about the launch (c ) Should engineers play any part in the ing of launch or should it be a management decision

Ethics are of utmost importance in any profession and applies equally to engineering . The role of an engineer is to make peoples life comfortable and safer . Hence practicing engineering ethics acquire high significance to ensure a safe environment
